God’s Attack Worms

Welcome to our weekly update. We’ll start with a devotion about moths and worms, catch you up on what we’re up to, and include some prayer requests. Not-so-Scary Movie

“Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have taken my instruction to heart: Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals or be terrified by their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment; the worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness will last forever, my salvation through all generations.” Isaiah‬ ‭51‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

That is quite the image. The mighty who are wreaking havoc on the righteous, those who shout their threats—and sometimes carry them out. God will defeat them.

With a worm. Or a moth. Not Mothra. Normal, insignificant little bugs.

Not a giant or a hammer or a sword or an army or a flood or earthquake. A moth and a worm.

The biggest enemy in your life, your biggest challenge? God doesn’t need to send in any of his big guns to take it out. His attack worms and moths will do.

So that big problem you’re fretting about right now? Don’t worry too much. God’s moth is in on its way.

[Father, thank you that you have all things under your control and my biggest problem isn’t even a slight challenge for you. Thank you for your love and protection and provision. The boundary lines have indeed fallen for me in pleasant places, and I have a delightful inheritance.]

Update

It’s been a busy week. Kim and I were at 3D Church with Charlie Hickson last Sunday sharing the vision and meeting people. Tuesday I was at Pillar Church in Fayetteville meeting with pastors at their Word Partners training. Then Wednesday and Sunday we were at the old stomping grounds with Pastor Barry Jones and Spout Springs Church. Lots of great connections, and if you signed up for the newsletter at any of those, welcome aboard. Oh, and in my spare time I finished chapter 3 (of 6) of my dissertation.
