My Journey
In 2025 I retired as pastor of Spout Springs Church, which I’d planted in 2006. God almost-miraculously answered a prayer that I could have a year off to work on my PhD and figure out what my next step should be. The first two results of that time were a central concept, Multiply, and a clear mission.
I believe God’s mission for my life is equipping and empowering church leaders through sound theological training and personal spiritual development so that their churches authentically advance the Kingdom of God.
My Assignment
With a clear mission, the next two questions were 1) How has God prepared me for the next chapter? and 2) What does God want Kim and me to do in this chapter?

Every Ethne/Abwe/IBAC/cp?
What’s the deal with all the groups and acronyms? We’ll start at the “top.”
ABWE: One of the largest mission-sending agencies in America, ABWE has missionaries in 84 countries. As the umbrella organization, ABWE handles all the administrative details for all its teams, teams like Every Ethne.
Every Ethne: A mission within ABWE that focuses on the various people groups in the United States. If someone feels called to minister to immigrants from India in the US, they go through Every Ethne. Or if someone is called to minister to the military, again, Every Ethne, through one of its sub-ministries, Centurion Project. (Rich explains CP below.)
IBAC: Centurion Project partners with this ministry to train pastors and leaders in Latin American and to expose soldiers to effective, intercultural ministry. (Many soldiers are trained interculturally. This shows them how they can use that training for the Kingdom.)
